Color Sets

Included color sets

Color Sets are used to color your graphs in your layouts. It is not mandatory to use a color set but if you do not want the coloring of graphs to be random each time you create the PDF you should use the color sets. Read chapter Graphs on how the colors are used in the graphs.

When installing the tool you will also get some preconfigured color sets. To see the list of existing color sets, navigate to Layouts > Colors > Color Sets. The included color sets are called:

  • Winner: A theme inspired by competitions and the metals that prize medals and trophies are usually made of. Gold, silver and bronze.

  • Green: A green-only color theme with 24 different shades.

  • Basic: A theme of the named 16 basic colors that previous HTML versions used to recognize. A "classic" color theme.

  • Rainbow: A colorful theme containing 7 colors from the rainbow.

  • Complementary: A color theme with the complementary color combinations: Red-Cyan, Green-Magenta, Blue-Yellow.

  • Blue and Orange: A 4-color theme transferring from blue to orange.

You are free to use these color sets in your own Layouts but please note that these color sets can be upgraded in future releases.

To view the color set, click on View in the list and all included colors will be shown. The sorting order ("Order") of the colors is important when the graphs in your layouts are rendered. If you for example have a bar graph that includes 3 bars, the below color set would color the first bar in navy, the second one would be in steelblue and the third one in firebrick.

Add your own color sets

You can also create your own color sets. The color sets can either be created fully manually with you defining the colors (hex code) for each color or generated with the the help of you input of Hue, Luminosity and the number of colors you want to include. If you fill in these three fields NetSuite will automatically display that number of colors based on the hue and luminosity. If you are happy with the result you can click on Save and your new color set will be available when you add new graphs in your layouts.

If you want to create your own custom color set you can skip those three fields and instead add the colors directly in the SCL Color Name sublist. For each line you need to specify the color name, the sorting order and the HEX code for the color you want to add. When you are done with your dataset, click on Save.

Add a color set to your graph

When adding your graph as a dataset you can also set a Color Set. When used, the coloring of your graphs in the rendered and created PDFs will be made using the selected color set. This field is not mandatory which means that you can also let it be rendered as random or by using the attribute color-engine which is added as a default attribute for all graphs.

Please note that if you have a color set selected on the dataset record it will always override any setting made in the attribute.

See chapter Color Sets for more information on how you can view and create your own color sets.

In the BFO HTML manual you can read more about how to use the color-engine attribute.
