Create new layout

When creating a new layout you do not need to do that totally from scratch. You can start your new layout from either a Template or by copying an existing layout.

There are two different types of templates. The tool is installed with some basic preconfigured templates that can help you get started with your first layouts. When you have a layout design that you like, you also have the option to save that layout as one of your own templates. These user-made templates will never be overwritten when Reporter gets updated with new versions.

Our recommendation is that you create a layout where you put some extra effort on the CSS (style sheet section) so that the layout matches your company's graphical profile. When done store this as one of your own templates.

If you have the Alterview Report 360 SuiteApp installed in your account, there is also the possbility for you to create and convert one of your old Report 360 Printouts into a new layout.

Instructions

1. Log in using the Reporter Administrator (SC) role.

2. Depending on how you want to start your new layout project, continue with either option A (template) or B (copy).

A. Create from layout

A1. Navigate to Layouts > Build > Layout Builder > New
A2. In the field Based on Template select the template you want to use. This field will list the standard templates (see example images in chapter Templates) as well as your own templates (if you have created any).
A3. Continue with step 3 below.

B. Copy Existing

B1. Navigate to Layouts > Build > Layout Builder to open up the full list of existing layouts.
B2. Open the record you want to copy in edit mode and click on the Make Copy button.
B3. The field Based on Template will say "Copy Templates". Do not change this value.
B4. Continue with step 3 below.

3. Start by assigning the record a Name. This name will be used internally in NetSuite when for example deploying the finished layout in workflows. The name can also be used as part of the naming syntax to name the PDF document files created from this layout. If you are copying an existing layout, the name will be set to "Copy of Name of existing layout". Replace this with the new name.

4. Add a descriptive text of the layout and its purpose. This field is optional and only used internally but it is recommended that you enter a description in this field.

5. When you are done with the above, click on Save and a new Layout Builder record will be created based on the selected template / existing layout.

6. Continue by reading the Data chapter on how to add data to your layout.

Convert old Report 360 Printout

  1. If you have the SuiteApp Report 360 installed in your account you also have the option to create your new layout from an existing Report 360 Printout.

  2. Follow the instruction in step 1 - 3 from the above "Create New Layout from Template" section.

  3. Instead of using the Based in Template field, use the Based on Report360 Printout field to select the Report 360 Printout that you wish to convert into a new Layouts project.

    • Please note that the Report 360 template only shows if the "Read only" check box on that record is set to false. If it is set to true, Reporter cannot copy that configuration and layout.

  4. When you are done with the above, click on Save and a new SCL Layouts record will be created based on the Report 360 Printout including datasets.
